Created by Akira (DragonBall) Toriyama, Dr.Slump is a Japanese comedy/adventure manga and anime series set in Penguin Village. The show features a scientist named Senbe Norimaki and the misadventures of his robot girl, Arale.
The villiage plays host to a very strange cast including pigs that walk upright, a sun that eats ice cream while complaining how hot it is and many other odd ball characters. Dr.Slump is generally a lot sillier and more bizarre than Toriyama's subsequent DragonBall sagas but the two do have their similarities and each have a very loyal and strong fan base.

Is it me or does Suppaman have supernaturallly big ears! Here's a cool thing though, you can remove Suppaman's hair and turn his head around to reveal a different facial expression - a nice touch! Dr. Slump contains many parodies. Suppaman is one such character, a short, over-weight, pompous fool who transforms into a Superman-like costume by eating a sour ("suppa" in Japanese) pickle! Cool! Oh, and by the way, he can't fly but he can lay on a skateboard and pretend to!

Love that hair! Dr. Mashirito's plan in life is to destroy the world, but Arale and Gacchan continue to prevent him from doing so. He sees his plans taking place with the aid of the robots which he invents and are known as 'Caramelman'. There were 7 of these before he came to a sticky end!

Arale Norimaki is the principal character of Dr.Slump, she is the robot girl with extraordinary power. Nobody in the village knows that Arale is a robot, even though she has the ability to run at the speed of sound! Arale's creator is Senbe Norimaki and Dr.Mashirito is his enemy!

Taro Soramame is pretty sure of himself. He likes to show-off and make trouble. He is Pisuke's older brother and his dream is to join the police force so he can show off his gun, uniform and driving skills in a police car! This Kubrick version of Taro has him dressed in some very cool shades and a beautifully detailed jacket. He can be posed at the waist, head, arms, hands and legs.

Caramelman are a series of robots created by Senbe's arch rival Dr.Mashirito (who is in series 1) to destroy Arale. We're not quite sure what number this rather spooked looking Ostrich is even though he has a big 7 painted on him but his middle acts as a seat for those Kubricks which have a jointed waist (such as Pisuke). You simply pop the upper part of your chosen Kubrick into him to make a cool combo. He is very nicely jointed and painted too!

When Senbe travelled back in time with Arale and Pisuke (as you do) they met a caveman who gave them an egg which eventually hatched out a fully dressed baby with wings! Aliens in eggs?! Now there's a thought - Kubrick Mork and Mindy! Nanu Nanu!

Penguin Village is full of digs and puns on other characters from both Japan and the West but we'll wager that Toriyama didn't have Terry Scott as Cecil the Jungle Boy from Carry On Up The Jungle in mind when he came up with Parzan (and that's not a typo!). We do when we look at him, though.

Idea! If you have a potted vine, howabout hanging Parzan from it and see if anyone spots this little chap?

Pisuke is part of Arale´s group of friends. Although he's the same age as her he appears younger and is quite childish, as the rabbit-ear cap he always wears shows. One of his hobbies is collecting autographs and of course, has one by Suppaman!
