cool stuff - GAME ON!
WKW is the term used to describe white knob windups. These cute toys powered by a micro-motor first hit the stores in the early 70's taking over from the traditional clockwork powered toys of the day. Each of these guys walk forward when wound, just be careful not to overwind. These really are beautifully produced. We love white knob windups for sure!
Ojarumaru

For the uninitiated Ojarumaru is a manga and anime series about a five-year old fairyland prince who, in an effort to inject some fun into his life, steals a magic septre, warps a thousand years into the future and gets into scrapes living with a modern day Japanese family. There, now you know.

Pokemon Wind-Ups

You'd have thought that the Pokemon (or Pocket Monsters in Japan) phenomenon would have run its course by now but with the Diamond and Pearl versions on the DS and plenty more cards for kids to swap in the playground it's still up there, holding its own against Yu-Gi-Oh and the other pretenders to the crown.

What we've got here are some classic Pokemons in wind-up form. You know the sort of thing - turn the little white knob and away they go. Each one comes in a kit form but is fully pre-painted and easy to put together. There are some really nice actions here as they wobble and walk their way across your desktop.
wind-ups: POKEMON - Venasaurwind-ups: POKEMON - Venasaur

This little chap comes in kit form for you to put together.

From a Bulbasaur to an Ivysaur and finally a Venasaur. He's the top of the evolutionary tree as far as a Bulbasaur is concerned. Don't forget to keep him watered. These chaps are powered by a micro motor which you wind via a small white knob, hense these toys are often also know as 'white knob wintups' (wkw).
This chap comes boxed in kit form. Some assembly is required. Not suitable for little ones as lots of small parts.

wind-ups: POKEMON - Clefairywind-ups: POKEMON - Clefairy

This little chap comes in kit form for you to put together.

The super-cute Clefairy can store moonlight in the little wings on its back allowing it to float in the air. Alas, that's a little beyond the powers of a wind-up motor. He sure shimmys about, though. Godzilla
wind-ups: GODZILLA - Godzillawind-ups: GODZILLA - Godzilla
produced by: Tomy

"Oh-no, there goes Tokyo!"
Somehow, we don't think Blue Oyster Cult's ode to the big G had this super cute wind up version in mind when they wrote that. Wind him up and his arms spin wildly as he totters around but major cites are probably safe. This is an official Toho-licensed Godzilla item from Japan.
